As you were reading the back and forth from the letters, I thought of Jehoiakim in the winter Palace in Jeremiah 36. The Bishop of Oxford is corrupt and no man of God and like so many of his fellow travellers totally pagan, not born of the Spirit of God and overseeing the final collapse of the Church of England. This is all nonsense. Not just from a Biblical perspective but from an lgbt perspective. Let me explain. Why the bishop is including the Q is do not know. Queer does not mean lgbt. Most gay people find queer horribly offensive and those like me who suffered homophobic violence hate the word queer and sometimes it is upsetting to hear it because it is the word shouted at me when I was beaten in the street. So why is this bishop retraumatising gay people? Next, queer theory is all about tearing down social norms. That includes between adults and children. It’s all about the kids. From Gayle Rubin to Harper Keenan, the goal is paedophilia. Foucault was a sadist who raped young boys. This is queer. So stop anyone from using queer. Next, same sex relationships are more likely to be violent and sexually violent than opposite sex relationships. As a bisexual woman, I know I am at 61.1% risk of violence, sexual violence, stalking and murder from a woman but only 25% from a man. So I’m sticking with Jesus and sticking with my husband. The rate of violence between same sex couples is said to be 33% but this is under reported because lgbt people do not want to give a bad impression of lgbt people so most stay quiet. Plus services cater for straight people. It is 25% among opposite sex couples. Same sex marriages are more likely than opposite sex marriages to break down, and when opposite sex relationships break down, it is on average after 12 years. With same sex marriages, it is after 4 years. Same sex relationships between women are far more likely to be violent, turbulent and break down than same sex relationships between men, even when rape between two men is more common because men are more likely to put up with stuff than women, and this is shown in opposite sex relationships as women are the spouse most likely to instigate divorce proceedings. Same sex relationships are not good for lgbt people. They are not. I have not got a single gay female friend in a same sex relationship who has not been divorced from another woman. The reason they divorced is the other women cheated. Gay women cheat A LOT. Another woman comes along who seems more exciting so the woman drops her man or woman and goes after this new exciting woman. Plenty of “Christian” women have tried this with me after only just seeing me at a Christian event, not even after having talked to me. They saw me across as room and “fell in love”’with me. It’s gross. These women want me to fix their lives instead of loving their husband and letting Jesus fix their lives. It is disgusting on many levels. Many of them were 20 years my senior. It is disgusting. And this is what the bishop wants to bless. This is what the c of e wants to bless. It will say all sorts of things about love and inclusion. Most straight people have no idea about the reality of lgbt. I would wager no equality laws would have been passed if straight people knew the truth about lgbt. Isn't trying to find some mushy compromise between these incompatible views the very essence of what Jesus described as being lukewarm?

I came to faith through the C of E and find this so disheartening. What is being proposed is entirely ungodly. The Bishop of Oxford is delusional and divorced from biblical reality. He and his fellow deceivers are destroying the integrity of the CofE as they seek to trample on orthodoxy in the name of diversity. The idea that these are difficult questions is nonsense. Scripture and canon law are clear, and to ignore them is to be unloving and godless.

May God bless these guys for holding firm to the word of God. The way they have answered in love, with honesty and yet with utter conviction is great to see. Stand firm then brothers and sisters, for the Lord is with you and guiding you. What is hugely disappointing though is the apparent missing signature... The Archbishop of Canterbury.

Interesting question following the election. Will the changes in the membership of the House of Commons mean that the pressures being placed on the Church of England to adopt LLF have disappeared or will they increase?

Rev Dan, you are not giving your view as you are in the Oxford diocese. To me, that is the most telling thing about this video. That is not a personal criticism, but rather a sad insight into the threatening institutional culture that pervades the clergy world.

I found the response of the Bishop deeply depressing. I still don't understand how, for example, allowing ministers to be in same-sex marriages, is just a "small and modest change" rather than a clear denial of scripture and contradiction of the church's teaching on marriage and sexuality. I was also grieved by the tone of Bishop Stephen's response, which speaks of respect, but accuses us of schism. Aren't conservatives simply asking for what he and other bishops have said they would provide (proper process, transparency, and provision). I can't quite get my head round his claim that this is a small issue and one that is a concern of a small number of people. I fear that Bishop Stephen will soon discover that this is not the case.

I feel that all these debates, arguments, letters and meetings concerning LLF are a waste of time. Since the C of E is a state religion, they will be forced to follow government policy come 'hell or high water' even if it means going against Biblical teachings. It is a fait accompli that same sex marriages will go through. IMO, the C of E will follow government policy (which was probably influenced by the UN Human Rights Report : A/HRC/53/37 of 07 June 2023 - Chapter VI).

Just a thought (not particularly great at the theology by the way) but maybe, just maybe, we can get too attached to a denomination and not attached to the universal body of Christ. ‘Crises’ like these focus the mind to what is really the main thing. No denomination or church has a right to keep on existing if it goes cold, or even lukewarm. Only fruitful and multiplying if we’re ’in the vine’ folks!

All I can say about the Bishop of Oxford and his views and actions. Is that he is the reason I have left the CofE.

I am fortunate to be within reasonable travel distance to St Helens Bishopsgate. I went there last week, it was great. I have not been going to the church here for months. I tried the Orthodox Coptic church, I have AF and the smoke nearly killed me off. I tried a congregational church and I didn't even hear any teaching, just endless singing, but it was full. I went to a charismatic African lead church, which was so overcrowded it was very scary, so tight, you couldn't move. I feared that in a panic there would be a terrible crush. The local CofE churches are so empty, it has been good to see that there are still Christians in London.

Steven Croft's arguments have been comprehensively blown out of the water. His nerve to claim that PLF is just a minor thing, and then to accuse those seeking to uphold the Church's teaching of schism is utterly breathtaking. Croft and those of his ilk who are tearing the Church apart by forcing through unbiblical doctrine need to be held to account. I am too angry and upset to write any more at this moment.

Do you want a church of self dedire or the desire of God. If you just need numbers as in a business, perhaps they are in the wrong profession. It is the head of the church that is changing its rules to suit its needs. Their is love of God and sexual love. One is the collective love within God and one is the desire to perpetuate physical existance by extending ones thought into another through birth. Being born here, is not a design that God originally designed. God allows it under the covenant rules that we do not keep. If we do not follow the rules, we suffer. Not because God hates us but because the instruction Manual has steps that lead us to freedom from our self made trap. Do I believe what God said or a bishop. The Bible is online and can be seen in the proto Hebrew, Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. The world can pull scripture apart like the animals on the alter of the Tabernacle to see what is inside. Symbolically, this is the meaning. To sacrifice your percieved thought that you seeded, watered and maintained and that which you hrew is then seen and harvested. You live the world you created and agree to maintain from your thought. So what does that say about the church?

I am an old, retired engineer. In December 2022 I wrote to Stephen Croft: "I have a problem: is sexual immorality still sin?" Stephen replied saying that the Greek word used is pornea and this could easily be translated "bad sex" which cannot be defined. I replied quoting 1 Cor 6 v 9-11 and asked if he had alternative translations for all these words: "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were..." "Were" before they came to repentance. But not continuously, not now. Stephen did not reply. Surely it is our duty to warn a brother who continuously and deliberately sins and refuses to repent of any sin, including sexual immorality, as in Revelation 9:21 and 16:9 and 11?

Bishop of Oxford is a false teacher. Avoid.

As somebody outside the C-of-E looking in, I find this whole thing incredibly sad. So this gentleman is what passes for a C-of-E BISHOP these days, eh? From my point-of-view a radical separation from such folks seems absolutely necessary! Indeed, I can't understand how is it even possible that persons of this mindset and ideology could have captured virtually all positions of high authority in your Church without there having been a major schism quite a long time ago! I think there was a sincere attempt by the letter-writers to engage with him, but it seems evident that teachers and defenders of error like this are never going to agree with orthodox Bible-based doctrines any more than a wolf is going to 'agree' with a shepherd! So really I wonder whether dialogue is somewhat a waste of time? There is an undercurrent of ill-disguised hostility to everything he writes. The official C-of-E position which he is embracing and defending seems to me to be wholly disingenuous inasmuch as it claims to have any respect or regard for those who who don't agree. It surely ain't going to end well for anyone accepting leadership from these Bishops? Of course I don't say that schism is an easy thing. But I struggle to see any longterm alternative for orthodox clergy. Sad situation.

You were wasting your time and energy on Bishop rainbow. I almost lost the will to live listening to the too and throwing. If Jesus were around in body he would be making his whip ready for action. I wouldn't say it was a waste to time talking to him, I'd say it was a total waste of time talking to him. Oxford and his apostate mates have already decided which bus their travelling on. I visit the Church of England every few months. I go to Rayners Lane Baptist Church to have Refresh Cafe on Saturday at 10am to 12 noon. Then on Sunday at 10.30am to 11.30am for worship. The Hymns are from Mission Praise and Songs of Fellowship. I found both Hymns are powerful and effective prayer to see vision of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the Holy Spirit. Amen Alleluia. Love in Christ from Jesus and Sylvia Nazareth.

The devil is behind division and in my opinion is engineering the downfall of the Church of England. Time will tell. The so-called schism has not been sought, but is being forced by those who cannot listen or see what the doctrinal problem is - IMO.

Once more I am glad that I am not a Christian - I don't have to put up with people trying to massage what I believe into something else entirely different. I haven't read the bible for a long time, but I don't remember hearing about it being changed to suit current trends. COE leadership is a bad joke (sorry).

The consequences of not preaching the true gospel is why,if you are preaching a different gospel to what was previously taught by the first apostles then this is inevitable
